Rockland Distilleries began on a family estate in 1924. A pioneering venture, set up to produce high quality Arrack for the first time in Ceylon's history. For nearly a Century, Rockland Distilleries remains a privately owned family business, maintaining its position as one of the most advanced distilleries in the country.
OUR HISTORY
Our story started in 1924, on a tropical island of many names – a paradise with a romance that has inspired writers and poets for centuries. The journey to perfection hasn't always been easy for our family-run business, and the distiller's flames were almost extinguished more than once in the turbulent history of the industry and of the island nation itself. Over the decades, our distillery has had to battle colonial policies, economic crises, rebellions and natural disasters in a quest to keep the spirits flowing.

But happily for us, like a phoenix, Rockland has continued to rise from the ashes due to sheer tenacity and passion for our products – and the exotic, artisan spirits survived and blossomed in hands that lovingly nurtured and perfected them over the years. We continue to be one of the most advanced distilleries in Sri Lanka, gifting the world with some of the purest, most high-quality spirits that have been enjoyed for decades.

Since 1924, Rockland has remained a family run business, maintaining a legacy of heritage for over four generations. Family traditions are important to us and secret recipes are passed on from father to son, maintaining pride and quality throughout the passage of time. With almost a century of experience behind us, Rockland's exquisite island spirits are like no other in the world.
THE MASTER DISTILLER
As well as utilising the wealth of knowledge gained throughout the passage of time, we take a lot of pride in our beloved traditions here at Rockland Distillery. One of our most unique and exclusive practises is that of The Master Distiller. Using his invaluable expertise, the Master Distiller devotedly checks every handcrafted batch of spirits, ensuring that every drop of liquid that leaves the distillery encapsulates the same timeless and authentic taste that it has for over four generations.
